Look up ‘safest LGBTQ+ countries in Europe’ on Google, and Belgium tops the list. For many folks soon to flee their homeland, this becomes a determinant in deciding where to go.
Upon arrival, the rose-tinted expectations quickly fade, as newly arrived queer folks face a reality of mistreatment, abuse, hunger, or homelessness.
This animated short offers a glimpse into the first few hours of a long, 18-24 month asylum process in the promised land of “equality and safe space”. The short was commissioned by the NGO
